Biotech Case Study

CHALLENGE

A Washington-based biotech company received FDA approval to kick start their go-to-market efforts for a breakthrough cancer drug they had been developing. They needed to move fast because their market position depended on it.

The company wanted to send a prostate cancer awareness mailing, complete with a letter and DVD, to 280,000 people nationwide. The budget was $300,000, including postage, but the complexity of the mailer made it far too costly to hit that number.

SOLUTION

Kaye-Smith collaborated with the client, its ad agency and a data manager to re-engineer the piece in order to come under budget. We switched to a different mailing format and found more cost-effective materials to use.

Kaye-Smith was able to save the client additional money by bringing everything in-house—from printing to assembly to reduced-rate postage. Plus, the U.S. Postal Service gives Kaye-Smith reduced postage rates because we perform pre-sort processing of mailings.

RESULTS

  • Completed this time-sensitive project on a tight budget within six weeks.

  • Executed a mailer that was cost-effective but did not skimp on quality. Kaye Smith’s 20 years of experience in this industry helped outline and execute a plan that allowed the client to meet their objectives and keep the project under budget.

  • Operated within the accelerated time frame by coordinating the printing and mailing in-house.
